There were only two things I knew I wanted in my bedroom that I wanted to build my entire room around them, a tufted leather nailbed headboard/bed and mirrored nightstands.
I pretty much treated decorating my bedroom as if it were my baby lol. Every piece needed to be perfect and I was determined to do it within my budget. There are some things I splurged on but there is not one thing in my room (furniture and decoration wise) that I paid full price for :D! Even on thing I splurged on, like my bedding which is Hotel Collection from Macy’s, I had a coupon for! So believe me when I tell you, it is very possible to design the room of your dreams on a budget.
I’m going to slowly share bits and pieces of my room on here and figured the perfect place to start was my nightstands. I have very expensive taste so if I could have shopped at Z Gallerie for all mirrored furniture, I would have. But obviously, that wasn’t reasonable for me. I actually did most of my shopping at Macy’s (with coupons), HomeGoods, or online deals and steals I would find! I think my mom was sick a tired of all the pictures and links I would send her because I had to do my due diligence in research before pulling the trigger and making the purchase, and trust me when I tell you I sent her A LOT of options lol.
The biggest issue I had was finding reasonably priced mirrored nightstands. Absolutely everything I found online was way out of my price range or had terrible reviews. I actually found a nightstand I loved at Target online, but was only sold in stores. When I called Target they told me it was a clearance item for only $8! I immediately hung up the phone and ran to Target only for them to have been sold out in the time it took me to get there. But thats OK because then I came across these online and loved them even more! It was a sign these were meant to be mine! I ordered two and put one on each side of my bed.
I did not want these nightstands to be identical by any means. In fact, the only identical piece on them is the lamp and lamp shade I picked out and placed on the back corner furthest away from my bed. I liked these lamps and lamp shades because they were unique but didn’t detract from the nightstand itself.
So lets start with my nightstand to the left of my bed if you’re facing it. This is where I have my stack of coffee table books. I opted for three books in three different sizes. I didn’t want to have too many on there and wanted dimension in my stacking. The bottom book is Chanel: The Vocabulary of Style, the middle is Yves Saint Laurent, and the top is Love Style Life! I got them all on amazon and they got here super fast in one box! I chose fashion based books to stack because I have a passion for fashion but you can stack any of your favorites! In the other back corned of this nightstand I added a faux bouquet of white roses because who doesn’t love flowers? I also added this black ampersand sign which also happens to be a piggy bank (figured that one out when I got home lol). I found a similar one here. The last thing on this nightstand is a stack of coasters. They were a set of four and I placed three here and one on my other nightstand.
My second nightstand is a little more personal than my first. I started off with an 8 x 10 picture of Matt and I. It’s one of my favorite pictures of us to date that was candid during those professional photos you take on cruises! I put it in a nice black frame to contrast the white background of the photo. I also took a shiny black box that had a gift from a Marc Jacobs beauty campaign and reused it for storage and for decor (similar here). On top of that box, I put a faux bouquet of pink roses to add some color to this side. I also went for a square vase on this side and not a round one. I didn’t want my nightstands to be too matchy matchy. I also always keep my remote for my TV and for my Apple TV on this nightstand because its closer to my side of the bed!
And, since you can see them in the photos, here is my bedding collection!
