Happy little Friday all! I’ve been gravitating towards wearing a lot of black lately (perfect examples: flannel and faux fur, motorcycle chic, rainy day with Fergie footwear, black faux fur vest, etc.) and wanted to brighten up my look a little bit. I think I accomplished my goal with this #OOTD. When I decide out my outfit for the day I like to start with one piece I really want to wear and plan the rest of my look around that. For this look, I planned it around my army green anorak.
I chose to plan my look around this jacket because its one of two jackets I currently own that have zero black in them whatsoever! Picking the perfect anorak is pretty simple. There are 3 things to consider when purchasing one: 1. solid or pattern (and by pattern I mean camouflage)? 2. long or short? 3. light or dark? I wanted a solid, long, light army green anorak, which worked perfect for this outfit.
Next, I had to decide on a top. I’m really into basics these days because they’re so versatile! They can be dressed up or dressed down and go with pretty much everything! I love this basic white long sleeved tee. It’s more of a loose fit than it is tight fitted (which hides the holiday weight I totally gained, but I mean come on, I just can’t say no to home cooked Italian food! I’m a sucker for chicken parm and penne alla vodka.) It’s extremely comfortable. Sometimes its good to invest in the pricier basic tees because they’ll last longer. I also would get them in a few different colors. My go to choices are black, white, grey, tan/camel/cream, and sometimes red! I’ve had my eye on a blush colored top and may need to finally pull the trigger and purchase it!
Now that I decided on my jacket and top I had to pick out my pants. Since I was steering away rom my dark, mostly black looks I opted for a medium wash skinny jean. I have my medium wash, dark wash, super dark wash, and black jeans on rotation but these medium needed a little more love. My next investment will definitely be a pair of white skinny jeans! I’ve been having the hardest time finding the perfect ones that fit me right (short girl problems). I’ve had my medium wash skinny jeans for a few years but this pair is similar. I think its important to have a pair of medium wash jeans because you always need a happy medium between your dark wash / black jeans and your light wash / white jeans!
My final two pieces to my outfit puzzle are my shoes and my sunglasses. Since I have yet to pull the trigger on getting my black over the knee boots in either grey or taupe it was a no brainer that I had to bring out my beige heeled booties (similar). I chose my heeled booties over my flat booties for one reason and one reason only: living in Santa Monica I never wear heels out on the weekend so the only time I get to wear them is during the week at work! For my sunglasses I chose my pink flash lens ray ban aviators. While I love styling my classic Ray-Ban aviators, they were too dark for this and so were my blue flash lens aviators, so pink won! And that’s how I decided on this out! Shop my look:
