Back to school, back to school, to prove to dad I’m not a fool! If you don’t know what movie that’s from, we can’t be friends… JK but you need to watch Billy Madison immediately. One of the things I miss about still being in school is back to school shopping. I looked forward to it every year! Although I am no longer in school (sad face) I’m helping you put together some awesome back to school outfits for those of you who still are! I went shopping around The Shops at Montebello and hit a few stores I knew would be perfect to help me put some back to school looks together.
My first stop at The Shops was H&M. I chose H&M because I knew they’d have the perfect mix of dressier and casual looks. I think it’s important to have a mix of outfit types when doing back to school shopping. My first look is one I’d consider to be on the dressier side.
These black skinny jeans fit like a dream! Skinny jeans are a basic and a must have in your closet. They immediately make you look like you’re put together and dressing up slightly. I have an obsession with off the shoulder tops and this olive green number is no exception. The second I stepped into H&M at The Shops I was drawn to this top. It’s a great color for fall, its super comfortable, and works perfectly to make you look like you dressed up slightly when you went back to school.

The second look I put together for back to school in H&M at The Shops at Montebello is a way to make the black skinny jeans look slightly more causal. I paired them with this ruffle detailed tee. Basic’s are extremely important when putting together your back to school wardrobe, so when I saw this fun take on a basic tee I just knew I had to have it! It extremely soft to the touch (which is huge in my book) and super cute!

The third look I put together is one that I could wear on repeat all the time! High waist skinny jeans and a vintage band tee’s (similar here). You may not know this about me, but my style has much more of an edginess to it than I show off most of the time. After I put together this look I knew my next stop after I left H&M was to head to the Van’s store in the The Shops to pick up some fresh white sneakers to pair with this look.
The first look I put together is probably the most casual and comfortable look for back to school. The athletic look is HUGE this season and I don’t hate it. One of the first tables I saw when I walked in the PacSun at The Shops was covered in a bunch of Adidas gear. I opted for the black leggings (obviously) because leggings are life and they’re pants, I don’t care what anyone says! I paired it with an oversized sweatshirt. This is the type of look you wear when you’re trying to be comfy and on trend, without looking sloppy. I sized up in the sweatshirt to achieve the oversize look. The sneakers that I talked about to go with the vintage tee at H&M would also pair nicely with this outfit.

This second look from PacSun at The Shops is a more dressed up version of the athletic look. I paired a cropped, embroidered hoodie (similar here) with some high waisted jeans. Embroidery is huge right now so I loved the sleeves on this hoodies. You can pair this with some platform sneakers (like these I have my eye on) or some cute booties. it’s perfect for back to school.

The last look from PacSun at The Shops is all about basics. As I’ve mentioned before, basics are key! I wish I learned this lesson much earlier, but starting to build your capsule wardrobe now full of basics is extremely important. Back to school shopping is the perfect excuse to add some more basics to your closet. I love that this tee has criss cross detailing on the front of it! It makes it look like a not your average basic, basic piece. This is perfect to wear for those days when you may be running a little bit late (always guilty) and you don’t know what to wear but don’t want to look like you just rolled out of bed.
The first look I put together at Forever 21 is another vitange band tee. I love the unique detailing on the sleeves and just had to try it on! Since back to school means falls is around the corner as well, I knew I needed to get myself some new jackets. This gorgeous faux leather jacket is perfect paired with the vintage rock band tee. You can easily dress it down to wear to school, and then also dress it up on the weekend when you’re going out with your friends.

The second look I picked out at Forever 21 at The Shops was this cute top! Its flowy and feminine and perfect! I look to add pieces that aren’t super tight when heading back to school because sometimes you just don’t want to feel constricted all day long in class. I loved that the detailing across the chest was mimicked on the sleeves as well.

My third and final look for my back to school outfit shopping spree is this flannel! Did you really think I’d go shipping and not pick up another flannel?! I’m addicted to them and you need to add this one to your wardrobe. It’s extremely versatile, lightweight so it won’t make you too hot when you wear it, and the blue is a perfect hue.
Those looks are PERFECT for back to school! <3
