Hello babes! It’s fall which means being basic is even more in season then ever. Pumpkin spice everything, seasonal cups at Starbucks and so much more! For today’s post I’m doing something a little bit different. Not only am I styling this basic tee, my friend Julia is also styling it!’
Everyone, meet Julia! Julz and I go way back, all to way back to our college days at the University of Arizona. Bear down wildcats! She’s the fabulous blogger behind Uniquely Julz. We first met back in 2008 when we were put in the same sorority rush group and then we graduated together in 2012. Julz now lives up in Nor Cal so we thought it would be a fun twist to have us Zona girls style the same shirt to give it our own Nor Cal and So Cal flare to it. Make sure you check out her post because look how gorgeous her outfit is!

We both styled this basic tee shirt very differently. When in doubt, I always go for a black and white ensemble. These jeans are only $70 and you need them! I own them in 3 different colors and they’ve made me question why I ever spent hundreds of dollars on jeans before. I had been on the hunt for a new pair of black jeans for a while now and these were the perfect find!
My shoes are my favorite pair of peep toe booties. They’re the perfect bootie for fall! These booties come in several color options. It may seem like an investment to buy them, but I promise you’ll thank me later! The chunky heel makes them comfortable to wear all day. I’ll wear them to work all day and have no problems by the end of the day. That’s a major plus in my book! They run true to size / a little on the smaller side. I got them in a size 6.5 and I’m usually a size 6.
Sticking with my black and white outfit, I naturally picked my aviators that aren’t a flash lens. For this look I wanted it to be simple and classic. However, you totally could add a pop of color if you wanted to! If I wanted to add color, I would have gone for my dark purple flash lens sunglasses. You could also keep with the neutral tones by wearing silver mirrored sunglasses as well.
We’re in that weird stage here in LA where its sweater weather in the morning but you’re dying of heat by the afternoon. In order to deal with this, I like to layer. Layering is key to surviving fall in LA. I opted for my black bomber jacket. You could also pair it with a moto jacket as well, depending on the type of look you’re going for!
Another way to add in some color to this look would be through the jacket. You could do a colored bomber jacket, a colored leather jacket or even an army green anorak. I personally love green for fall and you can see how I style a green jacket in this must have jacket for fall post I wrote! Keep scrolling to see more of how I styled this basic tee and be sure to check out Julia’s post as well! Also, please comment and let us know if you’d like us to do more styling the same piece posts.

PS – have you seen my post on how to wear white after labor day or on what it’s really like to live with your significant other yet?
Love that you’re semi twinning and you each styled it differently and made it your own! I’m definitely all about monochrome so I’d def. go for the black pants , jacket and peep toe booties x
Love this casual outfit .. totally not basic! Looks fab!
