Hello Monday and hello all! I am back from my quick weekend get away, and let me just tell you, it was seriously amazing!
Late Thursday night / early Friday morning last week, my entire family flew into Florida to get ready to do something for the most important people in our lives, my grandparents! Friday was their 60th wedding anniversary and we wanted to do something special for them. My family is very close. My aunts and uncle’s are like my other parents and my cousins are like my other siblings. There has never been a time where we’ve all been able to be on one vacation together at the same time because my grandparents have a family run business.
Every winter my grandparents go to Florida to escape the cold winters of Chicago (I don’t blame them, it’s part of the reason why I moved to LA). Because they were in Florida, they weren’t going to be with any of us for their anniversary. And this is a big anniversary if you ask me! So that is when my family decided to give them the best gift ever, all of us together with them to celebrate their 60 wonderful years of marriage!
The plan was this: My Uncle called them about a week before and told them on their anniversary they needed to be downstairs in the lobby of their building at 9:30 am because a driver was going to be there to pick them up to take them on a surprise day we had planned for them! So, at 9 am all 15 of us went downstairs in the lobby with signs that said Happy 60th Anniversary and hid from being seen when the elevators opened. We had their doorman call them at about 9:10 am to let them know their driver was there early (we were all too excited to wait until 9:30 and wanted to make sure we caught it on camera). 2 minutes later you hear the elevator ding, and out walk my nana and papa. We all screamed Surprise! Happy Anniversary when they turned the corner! Their faces were absolutely priceless (as you can see from the picture)! I have it all on video and they stood in the same spot for a good 30 seconds going omg, omg, omg I can’t believe it, this is perfect, is this real, are we dreaming?! It was seriously the BEST feeling in the world having pulled this surprise off!
We spent the day Friday on the beach soaking up some rays before getting ready to go to dinner at our favorite restaurant in all of Ft. Lauderdale, Greek Islands. If you ever go to to Ft. Lauderdale you NEED to go to this place. It is the best greek food I’ve ever had. The first time I took Matt there he loved it so much he said we weren’t going to any other restaurants for the rest of the trip! You will not be disappointed with your experience there!
On Saturday we again spent the day on the beach working on our tans (which I desperately needed). Saturday night we threw a party for my grandparents for all of their friends to come help us celebrate their anniversary. It was so much fun, the food was amazing, my grandparents had the best time! And their cake was so cute! You’ll see it below, I was kind of obsessed with it lol! Sunday some of my cousins had to leave early in the morning to get back to school (they’re in college) but I got to stay for the day with my brother, one cousin and an aunt and uncle!
This past weekend was one I will never forget! Spending time with family is always the best and it was such a special occasion to celebrate the marriage of my favorite people in this entire world! Check out some of the pictures from my trip:

[…] I asked Ryan to be my photographer while we were on vacation surprising our Grandparents for their 60th wedding anniversary, he had no idea I was going to make him step in front of the camera too! He’s always joked […]
